Abstracts are invited for The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists 2011 Congress. The theme of the Congress is Close Relations.
If you wish to submit an abstract for consideration by the Scientific Program Committee, you must also intend to register for the Congress. On-line submission is the only method of receipt of abstracts.

Presentation Types
- Symposium Presentation: Combined submission of a maximum of 6 individual presentations submitted under one common theme. Please ensure all information relating to your individual symposium presentations is included in the one abstract submitted. The standard time allocated per symposium is 90 minutes.
- Free Paper: 20 minute oral presentation immediately followed by 5 minutes Q&A. The committee reserves the right to allocate submissions to selected corresponding sessions. We therefore encourage you to communicate with other authors prior to submitting your abstract to establish common themes for your submissions and to submit as a combined Symposium Presentations where possible.
- Panel Presentation: Panels are debate sessions of a group of leaders in a field discussing a broad issue of general interest from various perspectives. The focus of panel sessions is the discussion and interaction between the panelists. Submissions are sought for fully formed debates – meaning all presenters (pro/contra) required for your panel are included. The standard time allocated per panel presentation is 90 minutes.
- Poster Display: Visual display of research projects. The poster display will be an integral part of the program and will be part of the exhibition area.

Call for Abstracts Submission
Abstract submission is a two step process:
STEP 1
Abstract template: download the abstract template, save it to your desktop and complete it:
- Use the template to present your abstract in the required format. Abstracts not submitted using this template will be returned for correction.
- Your abstract text should be no more than 250 words.
- Your abstract should clearly and where applicable concisely outline the Background, Objectives, Methods, Findings and Conclusions.
- Delete all text in red when you have completed this template.
- After completing the abstract template, move onto step 2.
STEP 2
Online abstract submission form: to complete the online abstract submission form, the following information is required:
- Your Contact Details
- The Title of your Abstract
- Presentation Type
- Theme
- Name and Organisation of all Co-Presenters and Co-Authors
- Brief Biographies for Yourself and all Co-Presenters.
- Each Biography should be no more than 100 words
- Audio Visual Requirements
- Your Completed Abstract Template

Confirmation of Submission
Immediately following successful submission, confirmation will be sent via email.

Publication of Abstracts
Abstracts accepted for oral and poster presentation will be published in the Congress handbook.
Please proofread abstracts carefully before submission to avoid errors. Revisions to abstracts will not be permitted after 21 January, the submission deadline.
Abstract Review Notification
Abstract review notification and allocated presentation format will be communicated to the corresponding authors email address by 18 March 2011. Please note that the details provided as the author contact should be for the nominated main contact for your abstract. All correspondence relating to the submission will be directed to this person, and they should in turn distribute to any/all co-presenters.
Speaker Registration
The invitation to submit an abstract does not constitute an offer to pay travel, accommodation or registration costs associated with the Congress. Similarly, no speaker fee is paid to successful participants.
All speakers must register for the Congress by 15 April 2011.
Speakers who are not registered by this date will have their abstract withdrawn from the Congress and it will not be published in the Congress Program.
